Violet M. Hockenberry

Violet M. Hockenberry, age 92 of Shippensburg, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital. She was born Saturday, July 21, 1923 in Cleversburg, the daughter of the late Grace R.Kelley. Violet was formerly employed by U-Wanna-Wash Frock in Shippensburg for many years. She was well known for all her artistic accomplishments, including her paintings and creative sewing. She and John enjoyed their outings in the car. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, John F. Hockenberry, Jr. She is also survived by two sons, Larry D. and wife Sharon Hockenberry of Shippensburg, Jack E. and wife Sandy Hockenberry of Shippensburg; eight grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren andfive great-great-grandchildren, stepsisters, Nancy Lynch and Milly Lynch of Shippensburg and three stepbrothers: Gerald, Ronald and Ken Lynch, all of Shippensburg. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald (Tader) Hockenberry, a sister, Betty Ott and one grandson, Tyler D. Hockenberry. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, with Reverend Kenneth Waggoner, Jr.officiating. Interment will be in Cleversburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
