Virginia M. Smith

Virginia M. Smith "Ginny", age 77 of Chambersburg, passed away July 16, 2022 at Quincy Village. She was born July 23, 1944 in Schenectady, NY to the late Muriel Becker. Virginia was the widow of Keith L. Smith. Ginny was a wife of 53 years, mom and grandmother. She was kind, quiet and shy who sat back and took it all in. She loved her kitties, birds, cooking Italian food, and tending to orchids and plants. She is survived by her daughters, Colleen (Ken) Ashlin of Chambersburg and Jacqueline L. (John) Dixon of Stephenson, VA, grandchildren; Troy (Allison Zak) Dixon, Aaron (Hannah) Powers and Nina Powers and fiancé, Luke Schellhase. She is also survived by her grandson-in-law, Steve Dillard, step-grandchildren, Daniel (Ashley Lawson) Ashlin, Matthew Ashlin and Emily (Bryan) Gerofsky and great-grandchildren, Jack Ashlin, Lorelai Powers, Henleigh Powers, Liam Schellhase, Madison Powers, Ellianna Powers and Gideon Dixon. In addition to her mother and husband, Virginia is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brandy Dillard. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. At Ginny's request, never wanting to be the center of attention, there will be no viewing. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, Jordan Springs Road, Stephenson, VA, 22656. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Quantico National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. She will be laid to rest beside her husband.
