Walter Jean Bode, a beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on November 26, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on June 4, 1943, in Preetz, Germany, Walter spent most of his life dedicated to his family and his passion for classical music.
Walter immigrated to the United States, where he embraced his role as a Telecommunication Technician. His work ethic was unparalleled; he often juggled two jobs while raising his children, Rudy Bode and Vera Bode, demonstrating a relentless commitment to providing for his family. Walter was not only a hardworking man but also a kind and generous soul, whose warmth and friendliness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
With a deep love for music, Walter often filled his home with the sounds of classical compositions, drawing joy from his extensive collection of records and then CD’s. He dreamed of studying music in London, a testament to his lifelong passion. Walter enjoyed the outdoors with fishing and visiting state parks. Family gatherings brought him immense happiness, and he took great pride in the accomplishments of his children.
A German Navy Veteran, Walter carried a strong sense of duty and honor throughout his life. Recently, he purchased a new car, reigniting his joy for driving and looking forward to visiting his beloved wife, Nerys Bode, to ensure her well-being.
Walter's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Nerys Bode; one son, Rudy Bode; one daughter, Vera Bode; three grandchildren, Jeremey, Brandon, and Kiersten Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Stella Eloise Daugherty.
Professional servcies have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., Shippensburg. At this time, services are at the discretion of the family.
