William Herman Burkett

William “Bill” Herman Burkett, age 81, of Shippensburg, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at their home. He was born March 10, 1942 in Carlisle, the child of the late Howard and Fleta (Franklin) Burkett.

Bill attended Shippensburg Senior High School. He retired from Maslands/Lear Corporation after working as a laborer there for 40 years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the beach with his family.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris (Comp) Burkett of Shippensburg; daughter, Debra Fetter and her husband, Keith of Newville; son, Kenneth William Burkett and his wife, Christie of Newburg; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six sisters, Betty Jones and her husband, Bill, Francis McBride, Doris Whitzel and her husband, Bob, Donna Nickey and her husband, Bob, Suzie Shivley and her husband, Dave and Carol Carmack and her husband, Marty and one brother, Daniel Burkett and his wife, Lois. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Minnie Thomas and his brother, Lee Burkholder.
