William H. Kirk

November 5, 1964 — September 29, 2015

William H. Kirk, age 50 of Biglerville, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born Thursday, November 5, 1964 in West Chester. He grew up on the family farm in Honey Brook and relocated to Biglerville in 2000 to continue his farming. Bill graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1983. Bill was a loving husband and father. He was a lifelong farmer with a true love of the land. He and his wife raised beef cattle and hay. He was happiest on his John Deere and out in the pasture with his "girls". He truly carried the "dirt gene", for farming was not just his job, it was his life. He was an honorary member of the Upper Adams Jaycees, Board of Directors for National Apple Harvest Festival and Oakside Community Park. He was a caring person always willing to lend a helping hand. He was ever conscious of the land and environment of which he was a steward, installing many environmental best management practices on the farm. He held a position as farm director on the Adams County Conservation District board of Directors and was a past member of the Twin Valley FFA. He is survived by his wife Michelle L. (Rice) Kirk of 13 years. He is also survived by his son, Kevin T. Romig of Honey Brook, a brother, Thomas H. and wife Patricia Kirk of Honey Brook and his parents, Robert H. and Elizabeth L. (Yawn) Kirk of East Berlin, mother-in-law JoAnn (Blosenski) Rice of Honey Brook, brother-in-law Keith E. and wife Jodie Rice of Honey Brook, two nieces, Emily Kirk and companion Adam Winters and Madison Rice, two nephews, Zachary Rice and Tanner Flinn. He was predeceased by father-in-law William R. Rice. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 9 at Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg with friend William J. Horton officiating.
