WilliamSamson, 93, of Shippensburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Sunday, May 22, 1921 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, the child of the late John and Elizabeth(McCall) Samson. William attended Indiana University and Carnegie Mellon University. Hewas employed for 25 years at Union Carbide as a Chemical Salesman and then worked for Packaging Corp. of America.He was a disciplemaker, Bible teacher, missionary, elder and spiritual mentor. He served on the boards of Word of Life International, Gideons International, Christian Businessmen's Association, Northeastern Bible College, and along with Arlene, moved to Botswana, Africa to serve as a missionary with the Africa Evangelical Fellowship. He started two Christian bookstores in New Jersey and helped to revitalize the ministry of Lesedi Christian Bookstore in Gaborone, Botswana. Upon returning home to the States, Bill started Christian Literature for Africa, an organization with the primary goal of sending Bibles, commentaries, hymnals and Christian literature to Africa. He served as an elder with Grace Bible Church in Pompton Plains, and was a Bible teacher there for many years. Bill was also instrumental in helping to plant the Shippensburg Evangelical Free Church and served as the Chairman of the Missions Committee there. Bill will be missed for his faithful prayers, love, encouragement, service for Christ, and his all-around sense of humor. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and follower of Jesus. He is survived by his wife, Mary Arlene (Stewart) Samson of almost 65 years, six children: Patriciaand husband Bill Arnold; Laurie husband Bob Gray, Beth Seitz, Heather Sisler, Wendyand husband Ed Loeffler and William wife Beth Samson, as well as 38 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 8 at 2:00 PM at Shippensburg Evangelical Free Church, 45 W. Orange Street, Shippensburg, PA.
