William B. Shearer, age 81 of Spring Run, died on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. He was born Thursday, September 12, 1935 in Blairs Mills, the son of the late William W. and Helen (Blair) Shearer. Bill graduated from Fannett-Metal High School in 1953, and West Chester State Teachers College in 1957. Early in his professional career, he taught physical education at New Cumberland Junior High School. At the same time, he began working as a salesman for several men's clothing stores. With his wife, he owned and operated The Boardroom, a men's clothier in New Cumberland for 20 years before retiring. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge #262, Orrstown, 32nd degree Mason, Consistory and Shrine. He was also an avid collector of Pennsylvania long rifles and a member of the Kentucky Rifle Association. Bill was well known for raising peacocks and mowing the yard. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Juliette (Burns) Shearer. He is also survived by sons, William J. Shearer, Carlisle, Michael S. Shearer, FL, and Joseph D. Shearer, McConnellsburg, grandchildren, Sara and Joseph D. and several nieces and nephews. Professional services are entrusted to the Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 9 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Robin Baer officiating. Masonic services will be held at 10:45 by Masonic Lodge #262.A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services.
