Joseph R. Sweeney, age
69 of Biglerville, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011 at
Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Friday, March 6, 1942 in Upper
Darby the son of Angelina (Buscalia) Sweeney of Norristown and the
late Joseph Sweeney.
Joseph was employed by
Gettysburg Times for 10 years as a rural carrier in the York
Springs area. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam
War.
He is also survived by
four sons: Lukes S. Sweeney, Runnemede, NJ, Darren J. Sweeney,
Deptford, NJ, Nelson T. Sweeney, Blackwood, NJ, Joseph R. Sweeney,
Gettysburg, PA; six grandchildren: Nicholas Sweeney, Dani Rae
Sweeney, Arielle Sweeney, Jason Sweeney, Meagan Cutting, Errin
Sweeney and three great-grandchildren: Colton Sweeney, Anthony
Jason Ribchinsky, Audrie Coon; three brothers Raymond Sweeney of
Phoenix, AZ, Wayne Sweeney of Florida and Jeffrey Sweeney of
Trooper, PA.
Professional services
are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main
Street, Bendersville. Graveside services with military honors will
be held Friday, December 16 at 9:30 AM at Indiantown Gap National
Cemetery, Annville.
