Margaret Viola Romaine (Shaffer) "Mommom" Kimmel, age 78, of Biglerville died Sunday, December 11, 2011 surrounded by family at the home of her daughter. She was born Saturday, May 20, 1933 in Gardners, the daughter of the late Charles D. and Nora E. (Darr) Shaffer and stepmother Martha Shaffer. Margaret was a homemaker, raising five children. She was a member of Orchard Springs Fellowship in Aspers.

Her husband George W. Kimmel died March 19, 2011. She is survived by a son, William L. and wife Evelyn Kimmel of Aspers, three daughters: Margie A. and husband Don Thayer of Hanover, Kathy K. and husband Mark Shull of Aspers, Bonnie S. and husband Barry Bretzman of Aspers; two step-brothers: Sherril Shaffer of Bendersville and Charles Shaffer of Carlisle;16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Leroy Kimmel and Robert Charles Kimmel; grandson Thomas Kimmel, step-sister, Emma Failor and a step-brother, Matthew Shaffer.

Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville, PA. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 15, at 10:00 AM at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Tony DeRosa officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

    Mel and I are very sad and also very Happy for the loss of Margie in knowing she is with her LORD and Saviour is something to sing praises for. And it is also a sad time knowing in this world we will only have our precious memories, and we have lots of those. We will see you tomorrow and be in prayer for all of you.
