Richard D. Asper, age 86 of Gardners, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Wednesday, February 4, 1925 in Aspers, the son of the late Paul and Beatrice (Pittenturf) Asper.

Richard graduated from Biglerville High School in 1943. He  was self-employed as a carpenter. He also owned and operated his own farm.  He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

His wife Audrey L. (Spangler) Asper died in 2000. He is survived by three daughters: LuAnn Miller of Enola, Vicki K. Asper of Brookhaven and Dawn Asper of Gardners; two sons: Keith W. Asper and Todd L. Asper, both of Gardners, one sister, Janet Guise of York Springs; two brothers: Wayne Asper of Biglerville and Jack Asper of Gardners. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Asper. 

Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 25 at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Bendersville with  Reverend Matt Jury officiating. Interment will be in Biglerville Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 24 at Dugan Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM.
